MULLET BOAT RACING PROGRAMME – 2023 – 2024.

The Mullet boats have been a part of Auckland Harbour for over 120 years and a part of the history of St Mary’s Bay and the Ponsonby Cruising Club but over the last four years racing for all the fleets have been thwarted by conditions beyond our control.

Pandemic Lock downs, cyclones and floods and the latest, a Rahui banning all water sports on a very polluted Waitemata Harbour but there has been one event that has sailed on in accordance with the century of tradition – THE LIPTON CUP!

Unfortunately, the luxury of the Marina berths on H Pier have become beyond the budget for both the Club and the Mullet Boats but the space may still be negotiable if there is the demand and interested lessees!

Mar. Sat 16    103rd NEW WORLD LIPTON CUP – We have the sponsorship!

  • LIDGARD MEMORIAL SERIES: If there are no starters in this weekend’s Upper harbour Regatta shall we consider rescheduling this event as a lead-up sprint racing event in the new year??
  • How about planning NOW for 3 weekends of MB sailing – your choice – culminating with the LIPTON CUP! Tune up your boats, sharpen up your crews and then retire for another season.
  • Four weeks of marina berths may be justified and may encourage participation and sponsorship! Occupation of H Pier may still be negotiable!
  • Will any of those Mullet Boats still extant emerge for LIPTON CUP 2024???
